Private Allan James Holloway Le Serve (Service No:NX8573) initially served in the Militia on two occasions between 20 April 1930 and 1 April 1934 (Gunner, Lance Bombardier; Service No:310378). On 1 November 1939, he enlisted in the AIF as a Private - Nursing Orderly - attached to 1 CO Unit. Private Le Serv was atatched to Convalescent Depots (ACD) in the Middle East (18 January 1940 - 6 April 1942) and New Guinea (Lae and Wewak; 5 April 1944 - 1 July 1945), and was attached to 112 Convalescent Depot at Discharge on 22 September 1945.
Allan was born in Sydney, NSW in 1913, third of six children of Sydney James Broughton Le Serve (b1884 in Sydney, NSW) and Josephine Irene O'Farrell (b1886 in Sydney, NSW). Sydney (a Brass Finisher) and Josephine married in 1907 in Sydney, where they settled and raised their family and Sydney worked as a Fitter and Turner and Engineer. Sydney served in the AIF in WWI
Allan worked as a Labourer in Sydney, a Waiter in Gosford,and in 1939 was an unemployed Station Cook when he enlisted in the Army. In 1942 in Sydney, Allan married Norma Estelle Trevillian (b1921 in Sydney, NSW) - Norma was a Factory Hand. Following his Discharge, Allan and Norma settled in Sydney, where they raised their family and Allan worked as a Senior Hospital Attendant at Peat and Milton Islands Mental Hospital. In the late 1940s Allan started work as a Tram Conductor. He and Norma divorced in 1956, and Allan died in 1957. Norma remarried.
