Clarence was the eldest son of Samuel Pearce Edwards (b1872 in Clunes, Victoria) and Louisa Haughton (b1873 in Daylesford, Victoria). Samuel and Louisa married in Melbourne, Victoria in 1894 and settled in Clifton Hill wehere they raised their family. Samual was a Tramways Worker.

Clarence worked as a Salesman in Melbourne before enlisting in the AIF in 1916. He was a Private (Service No:5680) with 5th Infantry Battalion and 3rd Infantry Brigade HQ - Brigade Band. Following his Discharge in 1919, Clarence lived in Melbourne and the Wimmera Region where he worked as a Salesman and Shop Assistant.

In February 1940 Clarence was a Shop Assistant in Melbourne, Victoria when he enlisted in the ACMF. He was a Private (Service No:V83015) attached to  3 District Canteen Services when he was Discharged in June 1941.

Clarence remained in Melbourne, Victoria where he worked as a Labourer. He died in 1957.
