William Godfrey Alcorn was 25 years old when he enlisted on 16-08-1915 in 10th Infantry Battalion. His religion was Congregational church, he was not married, he was the son of Mr and Mrs. William Alcorn.

He had fair skin and hair, he was 5 feet and 6 ¼ inches tall, he weighed 129lbs, he had a chest measurement of 34.35 inches, his eye colour was blue.

His last rank was a Private and his service number was 3676. He was born in Inglewood SA, on the 1st of September 1890.

 Before William Godfrey Alcorn was enlisted in the war, he was a driver.

On the 23rd of September in 1917 William Godfrey Alcorn was admitted to Middlesex hospital with severe arm and leg injuries.

He was transferred to Napspury Hospital, suffering wounds in the leg and left arm. He was transferred to Harefield.

He was discharged to Wrymouth on the 26th of October.

He returned to Australia on the 31st of July 1918.

He was awarded a Star Assured medal, British War Medal, and Victory Medal.

He later died at the age of 72 on the 28th of May 1963, in Adelaide SA. He buried in Houghton Cemetery, Adelaide Hills SA, and is commemorated on the Houghton War Memorial.
