Frank Martin was an unmarried Willunga resident and aged 21 yrs when he enlisted at Adelaide. He stood 5'8" (173cm) and weighed 58lbs (72kg) and had a fresh complexion, blue eyes and fair hair.
He embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT A20 Hororata on 23 November 1916 and served as a driver in France until 7 September 1917 when he transferred to 7th Australian Artillery Brigade. On 01 September 1918 he received a gunshot wound to his left knee..
After he returned home Frank married Myrtle Tryphena Pike and they ahd four children,Ross, Laurel, Audrey and Nita.
Myrtle died in 1966, aged 70 and Frank later re-married to Gladys. Frank died on 9 July 1980 aged 85 and is buried in the Willunga Uniting Church Cemetery.
