Private Gordon Harold Marks (Service No:1341) enlisted in the AIF at Murrayville on 7 July 1915 and was attached to 9th Light Horse Regiment when he embarked with his Unit  from Melbourne for Gallipoli on 21 October 1915 on board HMAT SS Hawkes Bay. Private (Driver) Marks served in Palestine, Heliopolis, Abbassia and Moascar, and embarked from Suez for Melbourne on 16 March 1919 on board HT Euripides (invalided - septic ulcer). Private Marks was attached to 9th Light Horse Regiment at Discharge on 17 June 1919.

Born in Lorquon via Jeparit in 1892, Gordon was third of eight children of James Henry Marks (b1859 in Portland. Victoria) and Sarah Marsh (b1862 at Little Plains Station, South Australia). James (a Labourer) and Sarah married in Geelong in 1887 and lived at Woorak via Nhill, Lorquon via Jeparit and Ballarat before moving to Melbourne in the early 1900s. 

Gordon worked as a Farm Labourer and Farmer in Murrayville via Ouyen prior to his enlistment in the AIF. Following his Discharge, Gordon returned to Murrayville, where he was a Farmer in 1919 when he married Jessie Elizabeth Crocker (b1896 in Warracknabeal, Victoria) in Brim. Gordon and Jessie lived at Murrayville via Ouyen before moving to Ultima in the Wimmera in 1928 - Gordon was a Farmer. In the late 1930s they moved to Diamond Creek in Melbourne, where Gordon was a Munitions Worker, and served in the ACMF. Jessie died in 1970 and Gordon in 1976.
