Albert was the third of twelve children of Burleigh Stuart Wilson (b1868 in Tyrone, England) and second wife Mabel Grace Dyson (b1874 in Perth, WA). Burleigh (a Builder) and Mabel met in Melbourne, Victoria and married in 1893 in Guildford WA. They settled in Perth, WA where Burleigh worked as a Builder and Contractor.
Albert worked as a Labourer in Perth, WA and in March 1916 enlisted in the AIF (Private; Service No:5644). He had several brushes with authority whilst serving, including in Cape Town on 18 October 1916 when he went AWoL from Embarkation and was charged 'When on Active Service, using threatening language to his superior Officer, in that he, when in Adderley Street Cape Town on 4/12/18, did say to Lieutenant NJ Calder, 1st Pioneer Battalion AIF 'You long bastard we will do for you now' (National Archives Australia). Albert stated in his defense 'I was in rather muddled condition'. Albert served in France and was transferred to 44th Infantry Battalion in December 1917. He was hospitalised with Trench Fever in France, and in London with septic arthritis to his left knee. Arthur was Discharged in February 1919.
Returning to Perth WA, Albert worked as a Labourer, and was a Cook in 1939 when he married Madeleine Mary Cook (nee Golding; b1894 in Perth WA). Albert enlisted in the ACMF in August 1940 (Private; Service No:W29176) and was attached to 3 Depot Battalion when he was Discharged in June 1941.
Albert lived in Perth, WA where he worked as a Labourer, Cook and SP Bookie. He died in 1962 and Madeleine in 1987.
