Son of Arthur Upton and Sarah Ellen Upton of 'Northwold', Gibb Street, Rockdale, NSW

7 February 1916 - enlisted at Casula, NSW, with the January 1917 Reinforcements with the rank of Private. 

31 August 1917 - transferred to the 14th Field Ambulance in the field

21 June 1919 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Konigan Luise disembarking on 16 August 1919

Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal

23 September 1919 - discharged at the 2nd Military District

During 1929c Edgar married Winifred A.C. Lavelle in NSW.
