Son of Mrs Mary Lorimer, Balmattum East, Mount Euroa, Victoria

War Service with the 57th Battalion in Egypt, France and Belgium.

Ernest Victor Lorimer on the 27th August 1915 enlisted in the AIF at Broadmeadows, Victoria and on 2nd September was transferred to Seymour where on the 19th of November he was transferred to the 8th/23rd Battalion reinforcements.

Private Ernest Victor Lorimer embarked from Melbourne on the SS Afric on 5th January 1916, and sailed for Egypt via Aden, the Red Sea and the Suez Canal.

Private Ernest Victor Lorimer on the 4th April 1916 was allotted to 60th Bn, of the 15th Brigade at Ferry Post. Then later on the same day was transferred to the 57th Battalion at Ferry Post.

Ernest served out the rest of his time and action during the war with the 57th Battalion.

On the 15th of May 1919 Driver E V Lorimer boarded the R.M.S. Orontes at Devonport in Devon, England, for the return trip to Melbourne (Returned to Australia 15 May 1919) and received his army discharge papers on the 22nd of August 1919.
