Son of Charles Osborne and Elizabeth Barbara Osborne nee Bruce of Bostock Creek, Camperdown, Victoria.

Brother of Benjamin Sydney Osborne who returned to Australia on 13 April 1918 having served with the 8th Machine Gun Company.

Commenced return to Australia on 17 July 1919 aboard HT Dunluce Castle disembarking on 26 August 1919
