Lieutenant James Chester Guest 1910-1970, service number: VX1442, is the paternal grandson of T.B Guest & Jemima Amelia Guest, nee Campbell Guest, the founders of the Guest family biscuit dynasty.
After Thomas Bibby Guest III 1899-1975, died without a patronymic heir, the patronymic legacy swung back to the brother of T.B. Guest II 1863-1933, second born son, William Campbell Guest 1864-1932, whereby the Guest patronymic legacy continues this day by his paternal great grandson James Vincent Chester Guest 1937-, former MP, Victorian Parliament, the son of Lieutenant James Chester Guest 1910-1970, who in turn is the son of William Campbell Guest (1864–1932) KC (Kings Council).
Lieutenant James Chester Guest 1910-1970, service number, VX1442, is also known as James Chester Guest (1910–1970), B.A., B.C.L. Oxon. He was a Director Nth Broken Hill Pty Ltd, from 1950 until his death in 1970. He led business management there, at BHP since 1947.
James was educated at Geelong Grammar School, Brasenose College Oxford. He was a Member of the Stock Exchange Melbourne, 1937-45 and amongst his proudest endeavours was to served n the A.I.F during WWII, 1939-5 despite being a P.O.W. James, a Barrister at law married Patricia Hammond on the 5th August 1936. Patricia Guest, nee Hammond is the daughter of S. F. Hammond. He and Patricia’s son, James Vincent Chester Guest (1937-) became a Member of the Victorian Parliament in 1976 (1976-1996).
Son James Vincent Chester Guest (born 20 October 1937), MP – Victorian Parliament also was a graduate of Geelong Grammar School. He further attended Brasenose College at Oxford University, where he received a Master of Arts; he became a barrister-at-law in Lincoln's Inn in 1960. From 1961, James V.C. Guest (1937-) was an associate to Sir Owen Dixon, Chief Justice of Australia. In 1963 he returned to Victoria as a barrister.
In 1976 James Vincent Chester Guest, son of Lieutenant James Chester Guest, was elected to the Victorian Legislative Council as a Liberal member for Monash.
