Son of Joseph Corker and Margaret Corker nee Hancock of Hansonville, Victoria. Brother of Annie Miriam Corker, James Delatite Corker, Mark Ramsden Corker, Dorothy Priscilla Corker, Marjorie Naomi Corker, Elizabeth Margaret Corker, Ellen Jane Corker, William Benjamin Corker and Mary Ann Corker.

Francis was wounded during the Outpost Villages campaign in the lead up to Second Bullecourt. He sustained serious wounds to his chest and lungs reslting in his repatriation to Australia.

Commenced return to Australia on 10 September 1917 aboard HT Ulysses disembarking on the 13 November 1917.

During 1920 Francis married Edith Isabel Smith in Victoria
