Archibald Christian Neil was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on the 8th February, 1893. He was raised in Goombungee, Queensland and educated in the East Toowoomba State School.

He enlisted on May 9, 1916 in Toowoomba, Queensland and was transferred to the 41st Infantry Battalion, AIF on May 26, 1917. On October 21st, 1916, he embarked from Brisbane aboard the HMAS Boonah. Archibald was killled in action in the Messines Ridge area in Belgium on June 25th, 1917.

His personal effects were sent to his mother, Jemimah, who died 6 years after her son in 1923.
