Lieutenant Norman Stanley Robinson West (Service No:V81050) enlisted in the ACMF on 6 October 1939 and served with 3rd and 9th Garrison Battalions. He was Discharged on 3 November 1943.

Born in 1892 at Lake Rowan in Victoria, Norman was the fifth of eight children of William West Snr (b1850 in Northamptonshire, England) and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Sims (b1851 in Lancashire, England). William emigrated with his parents and siblings in 1852, arriving in Port Philip Bay, Victoria on board the Marlborough and was a Farmer at Lake Bolac, Victoria when he and Lizzie married in 1880. They lived in Lake Rowan and Fawcett Victoria where William was a Farmer.

In 1916 was a Farmer in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria when he married Gertrude Constance Hine (b1892 in Macchus Marsh, Victoria). Following WWI, Norman and Gertrude settled in Corop, Rushworth, Victoria where they raised their family and Norman was a Farmer. Following his service with the ACMF, Norman and Gertrude were living separately and by 1949 Norman was a Wood Merchant at Rochester nr Bendigo, Victoria. He then was an Agent in Colbinabbin, Victoria before moving to Mt Larcom at Keppel, QLD in 1954 and working as a Farmer - son Lance William was also at Mt Larcom. Norman died in QLD 1963 and Gertrude died at Benalla in Victoria in 1972.
