Clare was the daughter of Walter Fitzpatrick and Sarah Agnes Fitzpatrick nee Darbey.

World War 1 Service:  Clare enlisted as a Staff Nurse with the Australian Army Nursing Service on 21.8.1917 and embarked 23.11.1917 per 'Canberra'. Served in Egypt at 14 Australian General Hospital, Abbassia, Cairo

Returned to Australia on 8.1.1919 per 'Aneas'. Discharged 15.3.1919. Medals: British War Medal and Victory Medal.

In 1926 Clare married Francis Laurence O'Donohoe.
