Thomas's parents were Thomas Hobbs and Fanny Eliza Battershill. Thomas was the second youngest of five children. He was living at Fishery Pocket and working as a Labourer when he enlisted 7 February 1916 at Brisbane. Thomas married Rose Anderson in 1927 and from 1936 to 1977 they lived at Upper Yarraman which is between Nanango and Blackbutt. Thomas's occupation was a labourer and Rose's was home duties. Thomas's older brother, Sydney [184] also enlisted returning to Australia in 1919.
