The death occurred in the Proserpine District Hospital last Saturday of Mr George Robert Large at the age of 79 years. He became ill at 9 a.m. that day and died at 6.45 p.m.
Mr Large was born in Brisbane and during the intervening years to World War 1 he followed various occupations. At the outbreak of war he joined up and served overseas. Upon his return he was on the staff of the Kangaroo Point military hospital for some years.
He came to the Proserpine district about 1931 & engaged in farm work on various properties, portion of his time being spent with his son at Kelsey Creek. He was a member of the Proserpine branch of the RSSAILA.
He is survived by his wife, who resides in Brisbane, one son Mr. G.G.R. Large (Kelsey Creek) and two daughters Mrs. M. Hung and Mrs. R. Russell, both of whom reside in Brisbane.
The funeral moved from the Church of England on Sunday, Rev D.C. Blake officiating at the service.
