There is a William Kirby commemorated on the Barcombe War Memorial-a stone wheel Cross in the churchyard of St. Mary's Parish Church in Sussex, England. This is believed to relate to Private William F Kirby, the son of Mr & Mrs Frederick Kirby later of ‘Honeywick Cottage’, Chiddingly.

He enlisted in Rochester, Victoria,Australia.
