WILLIAM ERIC SAMPSON was born at Tabulam, Richmond River, New South Wales, on 30th September, 1891, the son of Mr. James and Mrs. Mary Annie Sampson. He was educated at Lismore District School. In March, 1910, he joined the Bank’s service at Lismore, being removed to Mullumbimby in September of the same year; to Gloucester in January, 1913; to Kyogle, as ledger-keeper, in June, 1914, and to Murwillumbah in May, 1915.
William Sampson enlisted in the A.I.F. on 13th August, 1915, being appointed to the 9th Reinforcements of the 15th Battalion. He did not see active service, as he died of meningitis on 16th December, 1915.
