Husband of Josephine Alvenia PRENTICE nee HARRY
Mr H. A. Prentice, who volunteered over a year ago, returned on Sunday last per Bingera, having been discharged as medically unfit. Private Prentice underwent military training at Brisbane and was listed to sail for the front but was prevented from doing so by an attack of rheumatism. On his recovery he was placed on home service and sent to Port Darwin where he was on duty for nearly 12 months. Stricken again by the old complaint he was forced to return home and now has his full discharge. He served 55 days in the A.I.F. and a year on home service and was keenly disappointed at not getting over to the other side. Although apparently in good health his orders are to take things easy for some time. Mr Prentice informs us that his son Richard, nineteen years of age, who has for some time past been anxious to get into khaki, will enlist shortly. Young Dick is not only a chip off the old block but is a fair bushman and roughrider, the stuff that good Anzacs are made of.
