Warrant Officer Alfred Wilson (Service No:4273) enlisted in the RAAF on 1 May 1939 and was an Aircraftman 1 at Signal School Laverton. He was described as 'Good strong jaw. Sensible sort of fellow. Above average type' (National Archives Australia). He served with 21 and No 1 Squadrons and on 1 September 1941 was a Flight Sergeant. He re-engaged as a Warrant Officer on 1 May 1945 and was attached to Air Defence HQ Melbourne when he was Discharged on 9 November 1945.

Born in 1915 in Melbourne Victoria, Alfred was the eldest of two children of Francis James Wilson (b1881 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Winifred Violet Athorn Crook (b1888 in Melbourne, Victoria). Francis (a Butcher) and Winifred married in 1914 in Oakleigh, Melbourne, Victoria where they settled and raised their family and Francis was a Butcher.

Alfred worked as an Electrical Fitter with DF Skelley and Co, having completed a five year apprenticeship. In 1942 he married Dorothy Tess (aka Tess) Raymont (b1925 in Melbourne, Victoria) - they separated and in 1949 Alfred was living with his parents in Oakleigh in Melbourne and working as a Fitter.

In 1950 in Melbourne, Alfred remarried to Nancy Charlotte Hunt (nee Moebus; b1918 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Nancy was a Widow. Alfred and Nancy settled in Melbourne and by 1963 Alfred was a Manager. Nancy died in 1992 and Alfred in 2002.
