Son of Sutton and Mary Ann (nee Stanford) HANLON, Narrawong, Vic.

Husband of Ellen Julia HANLON

Following a long period of ill-health as a result of war experience, Mr. William Hanlon passed into rest in the Melbourne Hospital on Saturday, August 30.  The deceased had resided in Belgrave for a period of about 10 years, and was for a long time engage in transport, which brought him in contact with a large number of residents and visitors to the town.  Quiet and unassuming faithful in the discharge of his duties, and scrupulously honest, were outstanding features of his daily life, and for such he was regarded with esteem by all.  the late Mr. Hanlon enlisted with the New Zealand expeditionary forces, and was a member of the Belgrave branch of the R.S.S.I.L.A., and was for some time caretaker of the Memorial Hall.  As a token of respect to the memory of the deceased, the flag at the hall was flown at half mast, and a wreath was despatched, by arrangement with Mr. Chandler, to Portland, where his remains were interred.  For his widow there will be felt deep sympathy during the dar hours of bereavement.
