Vernon Branwhite enlisted in the New South Wales Artillery on 21 February 1884. He was allocated Regimental Number 1222.
On Attestation he stated we was a Butcher, age 20 years 3 months. He is recorded as 5 Feet 7.5 Inches tall, with grey eyes and light brown hair, fresh complexion and his religion was Church of England.
Vernon Branwhite served as a Driver with the Artillery of the New South Wales Contingent in the Sudan. He was awarded the Africa Medal with Suakin Bar, Khedive’s Star and the Sydney Lord Mayor’s Medallet.
