Lieutenant Robert McIlroy, of 67 Sydney Parade, Geelong, enlisted as a Private on the 22nd of March 1917.  After doing a successful course at the Officers' Trianing School, Duntroo, he was promoted to commissioned rank on the 8th of July, 1918.  He embarked as Officer Commanding the 14th General Service Reinforcements on the transport Boonah on the 22nd of October, but the vessel was recalled from South Africa on account of the signing of the Armistice.  He was discharged on the 1st of February 1919. Prior to enlisting he was teaching at School No 1646. St. Arnaud.  Mr. Mcllroy has for the past to years acted as Sloyd master of the Bendigo centre, and has proved a very capable officer.
