SAD FATE OF A SOLIDER
A member of the Expeditionary Forces, Private William Orr, lost his life yesterday in tragic circumstances. It appears that the young soldier was on a ship near Pinkenba, and climbed into the riggings in order to have a good view of what was going on all round. by some means, the unfortunate man lost his hold, and fell heavily to the deck. Death was practically instantaneous, and on examination it was found that the young man's skull had been fractured. Lieutenant McDonnell took charge of the body, which was brought to town in the steamer Coringa.
Private Orr, who was about 28 years of age, was a workman employed at Roma, and his faterlives in Scotland.
It is not known whether the deceased had any relatives in Queensland.
