Born in 1894 in Perth WA, Hector was fourth of six children of Richard Charles Moore (b1867 in Dorset, England) and Mary Elizabeth Smith (b1866 in Canada). Richard (a Farm Labourer) and Mary married in 1888 in Sydney, NSW and in 1891 moved to Perth, WA with their two children. Richard and Mary settled in Perth where they raised their family and Richard worked as a Dairyman until his death by drowning in 1909.
Hector worked in Perth as a Dairyman and in 1917 was a Labourer and Driver when he enlisted in the AIF in 1917 (older brother Sydney served in WWI and WWII). In 1922 Hector was a Dairy Farmer at Kenwick nr Cannington WA when he married Ruth Hamblin Mason (b1897 in Cannington, WA). Hector and Ruth settled in Cannington where they raised their family and Hector was a Greengrocer until the late 1950s, and then a Despatch Worker. Hector died in 1960 and Ruth in 1961.
