Personal History:

Chris was the second child and eldest son of Austrian immigrant Nicholas Tironi and his first wife Mary Cole. He was one of 11 children to Nicholas, having 7 siblings and 3 half siblings from his fathers second marriage.

Not much is known about Christopher's early years.  It appears that his family lived an itinerant lifestyle, living in Orange and Dubbo in country NSW, before he moved to Sydney, where he enlisted.

Upon his return to Sydney, after serving in the Boer War, Chris was employed as a barber, working in Tempe.  In 1909 he married Theresa Salmon.  Their first daughter Ellen Kathleen Terone was born in 1911, while they were living in Tempe.

By 1916, Chris and his family were living in Warren NSW, where is sister Ellen Wakelin also lived. Mary, his youngest daughter was born in the same year.

The move to Warren heralded a new career for Chris.  Here he became a motor mechanic and eventually owned garages in Warren, Trundle and Parkes.

Christopher, Theresa, and the girsl moved to Parkes, NSW, opening Terone's Motor Garage in Clarinda St. The garage serviced, repaired and sold cars.  it was one of the first Buick dealerships in NSW.

While in Parkes, the family and Christopher, became an integral part of the Parkes community.  The girls were educated in Parkes, participating in many theatrical dramas and juvenile balls.  Christopher served on the show committee, volunteered for school works projects and became a Justice of the Peace.

In 1928, Theresa, Ellen and Mary moved back to Sydney.  Christopher went to visit his brother Fred in Halls Creek, West Australia.  Unfortunately he never arrived, nor did he return home.  The family he left behind never heard from him again.  He was declared to have died in 1929.
