William George Ellis (jnr) (1923-1991) of 356 Old Canterbury Road, Hurlstone Park, NSW enlisted on 26 May 1943 in Toowoomba. The Attestation form he sighed on that day has the following key numbers: ARMY NO. N450138; NX153568 an "For previous service see" N274547. Incredibly, this last number refers to a Charles Rex Hugo. In the documents held by the Australian Archives William George Ellis has signed a statutory declaration declaring that he had, infact, originally enlisted under the assumed name of Hugo!
