Flight- Lieut Alfred Mann of the Royal Naval Air Service who was kille din France on December 1, was 24 years of age and the son of Mrs. J.E. Mann of Randwick and Mount Wilson. He was an ex-student of St. Ignatius College.
Lieutenant Mann left for Europe shortly after the outbreak of war, and had been in the air service for about 16 mots. He was attached to one of five aeroplanes which were sent to raid Kiel Canal nine months ago. Only two of the machines returned. Later the flight-lieutenant was engaged in chasing Zepplins. He crossed to the base on the French coast the week before his death.
In a private cablegram Mrs. Mann was informed that her son's death was instantaeious, and that he had been buried in a French cemetery with the rites of the Roman Catholic Church.
