One of the most' striking events at the recent University Commencement was the conferring of the degree of Bachelor of Electrical Engineering on the late Frank Marsh McCutchan, who enlisted immediately after passing his examinations, but before the degree could be conferred. He was killed at the front, but, by special resolution of the Council, the degree is granted to all those who are in this position. The Dean of the Faculty (Prof. Payne) read a brief account of his career, and the whole audience stood while the Chancellor conferred the degree.
