Son of John Henry and Isabel Jessie McCutchan, of Park View Rd., Alphington, Victoria, Australia.

Served with the 212th Field Company Royal Engineers.

Nominated by Australian Government from Australian Universities for a commission in the Royal Engineers. Killed by a sniper near Arras while laying lines for a new trench. Shotgun wound to the back.

McCUTCHAN.—Died of wounds, May 14, 2nd  Lientenant Frank Marsh McCutchan, R.E., eldest son of  J. H. McCutchan, Alphington, and grandson of the late  James McCutchan, of Bridge-road and Coppin-street,  Richmond.
Nobly he answered to his name,
Thought but of honor, naught of
fame.

McCUTCHAN. —In loving memory of Lt. Frank Marsh McCutchan, B.E., A. Engs., died of wounds on the 14th May, 1917.

Queen's College.
One of the most' striking events at the recent University Commencement was the conferring of the  degree of Bachelor of Electrical Engineering on the  late Frank Marsh McCutchan, who enlisted immediately after passing his examinations, but before the degree  could be conferred. He was killed at the front, but, by special resolution of the Council, the degree is granted  to all those who are in this position. The Dean of the  Faculty (Prof. Payne) read a brief account of his career,  and the whole audience stood while the  Chancellor conferred the degree.
