Enlisted D Coy. 2nd Battalion 3rd NZ Rifle Brigade 7 February 1917
Served in France and wounded in action in the field - Gunshot Wound to Right Shoulder on 26 March 1918 and embarked for UK three days later. Admitted to Military Hospital Southwark 05 April 1918 and then onto 1 New Zealand General Hospital. Classified as unfit by medical board 11 July 1918 and returned to New Zealand 22 June 1918 per 'Iconic'
Mr. and Mrs. A Kronk, of Kangaroo Flat, have been notified by the Defence department that their, son, Private W. E. Kronk, has been seriously wounded in the shoulder in France. He is a younger brother of Private O. Kronk, who was wounded in January, and is now convalescent in hospital in England.
