Son of James and Johanna Ceceila MONAGHAN, Roachdale, Rannock via Coolamon, NSW
Mr. J. Monaghan, of Rannock, some weeks ago received word that his son Private F. M. Monagham had been missing since July 25th. No further information was received until Tuesday, when Rev. Father Griffin received the following telegram from Colonel Luscombe: —"Please inform Mr. J. Monaghan, Roachdale, Rannock, and convey deepest regret and sympathy of their Majestys the King and Queen and Commonwealth Government in the loss that he and army have sustained by death of soldier.—COL. LUSCOMBE."
Rev. Father Griffin conveyed the sad news to the relatives on Tuesday night. The late soldier was a fine manly young fellow, and his death adds one more to the unperishable roll of the Empire's heroes.
