Son of John Lawrence Fraser, c/o Foxton, Hobs and MacNish, Brisbane, Queensland
John was born at Townsville. He was educated in Brisbane and later at Gatton College where he graduated in 1914 and then worked on Oondooroo Station as a Jackeroo.
He returned to Australia 10 April 1917 and was discharged as medically unfit 29 May 1917.
After the war, John returned to Western Queensland in 1919 as Jackeroo/Oversser on Vindex Station. He purchased Selwyn Park, a portion of Mt. Landsborough, in partnership with Dr. George. In late 1922 he met and married Thelma Vogel, who was staying next door at Mt. Landsborough with her aunt and uncle Mr. & Mrs. H.J. Dawson. The marriage produced four children. In 1938 John and Thelma acquired an additional area which they called Newlands, where they lived until his death in 1965.
John was buried in the RSL Section of the Winton Cemetery.
