A CHRISTIAN SOLDIER AND THE CHILDREN'S FRIEND NOT DEAD, JUST SLEEPING
Served with the 1st/4th Battalion Royal Lancaster Regiment attached Headquarters 55th Division
Lieut. J. J. Rudduck, of Dromana, died of wounds on June 5. During July, 1915, Lieut. Rudduck, having been rejected in Melbourne for active service, booked a passage to London, where he joined the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, and rapidly gained his commission. He proceeded to France, and whilst engaged in action lost his left arm.
Returning to England, he was for some time retained teaching horsemanship, but after repeated requests he was permitted to return to France, where, from further wounds, he met his death. His brother Ernest is on active service. Lieut. Rudduck is a brother of Mrs Cadle, of Dandenong.
