Son of Arthur and Mary MacCUBBIN
In 1914 he was engineer on a ship at New Zealand when war was declared. He immediately joined up with the 1st Otago Infantry Battalion. He was at Gallipoli at the evacuation, then served in Egypt. He transferred to the Royal Navy, and was on a destroyer at Jutland.3 He served on a mine-sweeper and attained the rank of senior lieutenant-engineer. After the war he had a business in Scotland before returning to Australia in mid-1922.
Lt A McCubbin is listed on the Uniting Church Roll of Honour for WWI and the Manly Village School Roll of Honour.
MacCUBBIN. — December 19th, 1924, at Manly, Arthur, dearly beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur MacCubbin, of Cairney Hill, 21 Quinton Road, Manly, and loved , brother of Mrs. F. Young, of Cheltenham, Mrs. J. H. Smart, and David MacCubbin, of Johannesburg, South Africa ; aged 37 years.
