Son of Octavius Charles BEALE and Elizabeth nee BAILY
Husband of Edith Victoria BEALE nee ALLARD
Mr. Harold Strangman Beale, whose death took place on Monday, was a director of Beale and Co., Ltd., and of the Timmsvale Timber Co., Ltd. A son of the late Mr. Octavius C. Beale, he was especially interested in the promulgation of Australian cabinet timbers. His most recent activity was in the scientific production of blackbutt and tallowwood flooring.
Mr. Beale enlisted in 1916, and, saw active service in France as a lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery. On his return to Australia he realised the value of overseas methods of producing pianos and player pianos, and made several trips abroad to study them.
He was president of the Eastern Dorrigo Bush Nursing Association, and associated with several other organisations.
He is survived by a widow, who is a daughter of Sir George Mason Allard, three sons, and one daughter.
The funeral at the Northern Suburbs Crematorium yesterday morning was largely attended, the Rev. A. P. Campbell, a brother in-law, of Killara Congregational Church, officiating.
