Military Medal
'During the operations east of Ypres on 4th/5th October 1917, he was one of the party engaged upon the construction of the communication trenches. He showed an utter disregard for danger and his conspicuous bravery had a great effect on the rest of the men. He was always one of the first to volunteer for dangerous duty.'
