Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Berrima', 31 October 1917; disembarked Melbourne, for onward overland travel to Sydney; discharged (medically unfit: bronchitis), 30 June 1918.

Died, No 4 Australian General Hospital, Randwick, 6 May 1920 (pulmonary tuberculosis).
