Biography contributed by Adelaide High School

Leslie Eldridge was a South Australian soldier who fought in the Great War. He was part of the 27th Battalion. He was 25 years and 2 months of age when he embarked.

Eldridge lived on 6 Beans Road, Thebarton, SA. His mother was Margaret Eldridge and their family were of Roman Catholic faith.

Eldrdge disembarked on the 22nd of May in 1918, due to being medically unfit. From official documents, it was discovered that Eldridge had suffered gunshot wounds, in action on 11 January 1917. He was wounded for the second time at the Battle of the Menin Road on 20 September 1917, this time in the left thigh. This resulted in a fractured femur and caused him to be sent home in 1918.
