Son of Emily Esther Setter of Proserpine, QLD. Brother of Kate Rodda nee Flaherty. Half brother of Maud Chandler.

Bert was one the first six men to enlist from Proserpine.  He was also the town's first killed in action by an artillery shell while on duty in the firing line.  Death was intantaneous.
