Husband of Blanche Marjorie Veale nee Evans C/- Talbot Smith, Kensington Park, SA, later known as Blanche Jarrett. David and Blanche were married on 27 November 1915 in St. Ignatius Church, Norwood, SA.

Prior to coming to Australia David served with the East Lancashire Regiment for seven or eight months before  deserting.
