Clifford Joseph Brown is known for his service in the First World War (WW1). Joseph was born in Torrensville, South Australia. Joseph was a Christian and a member of the Church of England. He lived on Jervois Street, Torrensville in South Australia. Joseph was single when he joined the army. It was on the 3rd of October 1918 that Clifford Joseph Brown married Elizabeth Patterson. Joseph was 24 and Elizabeth was 23. Elizabeth worked as a bookkeeper.
Before Joseph joined the army, he worked as a blacksmith. It was on the 4th of October 1915 that Clifford Joseph Brown enlisted to join the army. He was 21 at the time. Josephs's regimental number for the war was 1836.
Joseph went to France with the 13th Field Company Engineers in 1916. In April 1917 he was promoted to Lance Corporal. He survived the war but was ill through much of 1919, meaning he only left England in the September of that year.
