Private Jack Aloe was born in Revel, Russia (which is now Estonia) on January 14th, 1891. He then moved to Port Pire, South Australia at an unknown time. Aloe’s next of kin was his father, K, Cole. Jack's previous occupation before the Great War was as a fireman. Jack was only 24 when he enlisted for the AIF on the 7th of December 1915. His place of enlistment was Adelaide, South Australia. Aloe was a religious man being a member of the Church of England. Aloe was never married and he was single before the war.

Aloe stood at of 5’7, and he came in at a weight of 139 lbs he also had short curly hair judging by photographs of him.

Jack served in the war as a Private in the 27th Battalion, 10th Reinforcement, his service number was 4052. He was transported on the RMS Mongolia on the 9th of March 1916.

Sadly, he was killed in action in France on August 31, 1918, in a campaign short after the Battle of Amiens. Aloe's is remembered at the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial in France. Aloe featured on a newspaper on a section called “heroes of war” , it had a brief description on his place and time of death.
