Henry Walter Seymour DUMBRILL was born on 2nd December, 1897 in Semaphore, South Australia

His parents were Herbert Seymour DUMBRILL and Emily JEFKINS

He was an engineers apprentice / labourer before he enlisted for WW1 at the age of 16 years and 11 months as a Bugler - he was previously a member of the 77th Battalion Military Cadets and left Australia for Egypt with the  10th Battalion, 1st reinforcements on 7th December 1914  on the HMAT Themistocles-

 He spent two months at Gallipol before being evacuated with influenza and rejoined the battalion in England in February, 1916.  Arriving in France for service on the Western Front in July 1916,

He was Killed in Action at Mouquet Farm, Pozieres on 23rd August, 1916 aged 18 years - he is buried in Courcelette British Cemetery in France & also memorialised at the Australian War Memorial & the Somme Roll of Honour
