Son of William and Margaret Hannah THOMAS, Albert Street, Sebastopol, Victoria
Stanley John Thomas (SN 614) was born at Sebastopol and attended the Sebastopol State School. He was 18-years-of-age, single, Plumber when he enlisted on 20th March 1916. He was allocated into the 39th Infantry Battalion and embarked on the HMAT A11 Ascanius in Melbourne on 27th May, reaching France in November. On 12th October 1917 he was killed in action near Passchendaele, has no known grave, and his name is on Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.
