Alfred's parents were William Mudford Best and Clara Gibbs. Alfred enlisted in November 1916. On his return from the war Alfred married Annie Christine McNaught in 1919. The McNaught family owned land at Woody Point in the early days and Mr McNaught took the services in the Redcliffe Congregational Church. After their marriage Alfred and Annie lived in Brisbane, ending their days at Sandgate.

BEST.— On August 22nd, at tho General Hospital, from pleurisy. Alfred Mudford (Molly), the dearly beloved Son of Mrs. Clara Best of Little Bank Street, West End, and the late  W. M. Best of Kelvin Grove, Newmarket, late A.I.F.
