"LATE PTE. A, J. COLEMAN.
The late Pte. Albert J. Coleman, of Bridge-street (East), Toowoomba (says the Toowoomba "Chronicle"), was born in London on October 19, 1883; came to Queensland with his parents in March, 1885. Volunteered and was accepted for active service June 1916, left Queensland October 21, 1916, being just 33 years of age. Died of wounds June 24, 1917. He was anxious to get away from the beginning of the war, but was turned down as "too small," but he persevered until the size standalrd was lowered, with the above result." - from the Queensland Times 26 Jul 1917 (nla.gov.au)
