Arthur Colin Gordon was born and grew up in Ardrossan, South Australia. On the 24th January 1916 he enlisted in the AIF (Australian Imperial Force) in Adelaide South Australia. Gordon fought from the 24th January 1916 - 4th September 1919.
During this time Arthur Colin Gordon was shipped out on the HMAT A13 Katuna and served in the Middle East from 23rd June 1916 - 19th July 1919.
On the 9th August 1916 Arthur was transferred to the 3rd Light Horse Training Regiment. On the 15th June 1918 Arthur Colin Gordon was promoted to the 2nd Lieutenant of the 1st Signal Squadron and not long after promoted to Lieutenant of the 1st Signal Squadron 16th September 1918.
