Gerald Thomas 'Garrett' ser 1131 served in the 35th aif Battlion Newcastle's Own.The 35th was part of the 9th brigade' 3rd Australian division,where he fought on the western front and France in 1916.The 35th was structured with the 34th and 36th. Gerald's two other brothers James and Maurice where in the 35/34th bat where Maurice was killed and James taken a POW until the end of the war. Gerald came home married to Laura Louisa Gibson. ( Laura is believed to have been one of the first women police officers in NSW.)
