Biography

"...1565 Private John William Hills, 2nd Battalion, of Liverpool, NSW (originally London, UK). A electrical engineer prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 3rd Reinforcements on board HMAT Seang Choon (A49) on 11 February 1915. Hills was appointed to the rank of Lance Corporal in late January 1917; then promoted to Corporal (Cpl) on 2 July 1918. Cpl Hills was awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field near Proyart on 23 August 1918. He was discharged from service on 23 April 1919." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
