Military Medal
'This N.C.O. had charge of two machine guns in the operations against PERONNE on 2nd September 1918. He handled them with great judgement and effect, taking his guns and crew through a heavy barrage and into position, from which he rendered splendid assistance to the attacking troops. he set a fine example to the men of his teams, inspiring them by his utter disregard of danger, his courage, cheerfulness and devotion to duty.'
